Earlier tonight one of my friends told me about a blog that she follows, smartprettyandawkward.com (a wonderful blog, I would totally recommend it). While I was with her she read me the post from October 28th, which was about how as girls we tend to have certain favorite celebrities that we pay special attention to but we should also have a few female political leaders that we admire that aren’t only famous for style, etc
My first response to her was that there aren’t any celebrities I really follow, yea I love Taylor Swift’s music but I definitely don’t sit around googling her everyday to see what she’s wearing and how I can be more like her. I tend to focus on everyday people that I look up to for various reasons. One of the many people whom I admire, is the friend who showed me this blog, Vanessa (vanessagotswag.tumblr.com).
I don’t even know where to begin talking about her. People say that “beauty is only skin deep,” but they haven’t met Vanessa. She is the perfect combination of someone that’s beautiful inside and out.
She constantly questions herself and her decisions in order to improve who she is in her own eyes; always striving to be a better person, more religious, more knowledgeable, etc; and along the way inspiring others to do the same. She, also, is one of the most artistic people I know. She is artistic in many ways but what I admire the most is her way with words; I enjoy reading things she’s written, or listening to her interpretations of basic things. Every entry on her blog is an inspiration. Not only, is she fabulous person on the inside she has impeccable taste when it comes to fashion, never afraid to try anything new and always on top of the latest fashion trends. There’s never a dull moment when I spend time with her. We can have serious deep conversations or be laughing until we can’t breathe.
I’m not saying Vanessa is perfect but even though she’s younger than me I look up to her and hope that one day I can possess the qualities that she has.
I know I’m not very good with using my words to express my thoughts but I hope this explains to you, Vanessa, why I always tell you that you’re an inspiration :)
